Terrence and Lesley Bridges, from Braintree in Essex, have become the first people in the UK to trial a scheme which sees their gas boiler swapped for tiny computers.
Terrence Bennett, 67, was banned from keeping animals indefinitely after a passerby saw him abusing his pet, Ali, through a gap in his curtains, Portsmouth Magistrates Court heard.
Terrence Moore (pictured), 78, started the Cat Survival Trust in Hertfordshire in the 1970s and had 31 animals at one point, including Bengal cats, jungle cats and leopards.
