Smeg kettles and Le Creuset pans once defined a middle-class kitchen in Britain. However, their reign is apparently nearing its end, with families now choosing a range of more effective alternatives.
That set of Le Creuset, the Nespresso machine that lasted through two maternity leaves, the gorgeous 1960s Aga... all everyday essentials to me.
But it turns out my kitchen is woefully out of date.
Le Creuset and Aga have already seen sales hit, and this week Smeg, most famous for its pastel-hued 1950s style fridges, also announced demand for its expensive appliances has fallen.
